amenability of banach algebras

chapters 1 and 2 establish the basic theory of amenability of topological groups and amenability of banach algebras. also we prove that. if g is a topological group, then r (wluc (g)) (resp. r (luc (g))) if and only if there exists a mean m on wluc (g) (resp. luc (g)) such that for every wluc (g) (resp. every luc (g)) and every element d of a dense subset d od g, m (r)m (f) holds. chapter 3 inv...

Relative Cohomology of Banach Algebras

Let A be a Banach algebra, not necessarily unital, and let B be a closed subalgebra of A. We establish a connection between the Banach cyclic cohomology group HC(A) of A and the Banach B-relative cyclic cohomology group HCnB(A) of A. We prove that, for a Banach algebra A with a bounded approximate identity and an amenable closed subalgebra B of A, up to topological isomorphism, HC(A) = HCnB(A) ...

Representations of Compact Groups on Banach Algebras

Let a compact group U act by automorphisms of a commutative regular and Wiener Banach algebra A. We study representations Ru of U on quotient spaces A/I(üj), where u> is an orbit of U in the Gelfand space X of A and L(uj) is the minimal closed ideal with hull w C X. The main result of the paper is: if A = AP(X) is a weighted Fourier algebra on a LCA group X = A with a subpolynomial weight p on ...

On the Cohomology Groups of Holomorphic Banach Bundles

We consider a compact complex manifold M and introduce the notion of two holomorphic Banach bundles E, F over M being compact perturbations of one another. Given two such bundles we show that if the cohomology groups Hq(M,E) are finite dimensional, then so are the cohomology groups Hq(M,F ); as well as a more precise result in the same spirit.

Cohomology of Lie groups and Lie algebras

The aim of this expository essay is to illustrate one example of a local-to-global phenomenon. What we mean by that is better illustrated by explaining the topic at hand. We aim to understand the de Rham cohomology groups of a Lie group. But instead of doing it using actual differential forms, we shall use the properties of a Lie group (especially the fact that it is a group) to reduce calculat...
